The web is a very big place with many nooks and crannies. People come to social channels and websites from all over, and sometimes they don’t even realize they’re looking at the same person/company. That’s where building a cohesive brand image comes into play.
In a similar fashion to personal clothing choices, a brand image says a lot. Fonts, colors, and photos make up this image. Now, that’s not to say that once a brand image is set it can’t be changed ever, or even that these are the only elements. The point is rather that brand image involves visual consistency.
Fonts say a lot about a business/brand and they do it subconsciously. When looking at fonts, people associate different font styles with different feelings. It’s important to know the desired feeling is when picking these fonts. In the end, pick 3-4 fonts and stick to them like glue.
Throughout human history, people have assigned colors to things. The present digital age means color bombards people more than ever. Humans still associate different colors with different things though, so it can be used in building an image. Picking 5-7 colors for a brand/business and then using them on everything helps people recognize the business.
Photo style is also a recognizable part of a brand. All photos should fit in with the colors anyway, but style says a lot. When someone builds a personal brand, they tend to use photos of them. A bigger business might choose a specific style of stock photo like desk flat lays or mountains. These photo choices can add a bit more personal touch to any business.
Combining these elements may seem daunting at first. It takes time and discipline to build this type of image, and it will not be an overnight project. The results though speak for themselves as people engage across multiple platforms consistently.
