Having a business means having a website too. The website serves as the digital home for the business. Like any home, it is unique to the company. It also needs periodic remodeling to keep up with its purpose. Tinkering with your website is like remodeling a house.
The first reason to change is growth. As the company grows, its story changes. The company develops its own story independent of the founder. Reworking an about us section may seem like a bottom of the to-do list of tasks; however, yearly, or biannual updates add to the website feel.
Another possibility is to revamp the sidebar, header, and footer. These appear across the website, so changes are at once noticeable. When there’s a new integration, it’s easy to overlook adding it to the sidebar while tinkering with your site. It’s also easy to just let things go that are not helping. The sidebar, header, and footer are everywhere. Reworking them can have immediate impacts.
SEO audits are another option for regular website activities. What makes good SEO changes as the algorithms do. While it may not be something that needs minute to minute changes, regular updates are a good idea. It may also be that certain activities work in a niche, while other tricks don’t perform. An SEO audit shows what’s been done and if changes need to be made.
Sometimes it’s just time for a change of scenery. Website rebuilds or theme changes are not unheard of in any industry. At times, they even attract more people. It is, however, necessary to prepare your audience for such changes. Though it may take a few tries to get perfect, so don’t be afraid to experiment with it and try tinkering with your website look.
Tinkering with your website is an intimidating prospect, especially without technical knowledge. However, slow and gradual changes can make a website. It’s a digital home after all and deserves some TLC.
