Exploring the world is frequently not a social media picture perfect pursuit. Usually at least one thing goes wrong while traveling, whether it’s a delayed flight or unexpected weather. It’s how these circumstances are handled that makes or breaks the trip.
Among the first things that can be off is tickets. Whether it’s a plane, a bus, or a train ticket, scheduling errors happen. Add in the chaos of third-party booking sites and foreign languages, and it’s a miracle more of this doesn’t happen while traveling. Therefore, it’s always important to double check bookings and examine the risks of refundability.
The out of control factors step in once the ticket booking finishes. I’m talking about the flight cancellations, train breakdowns, bus delays, and so many other possible issues. No matter how well we try to compensate for these, they happen. On the bright side, often they make for interesting unexpected adventures!
Of course, one of the big factors of traveling defies human prediction on a regular basis. After all, no matter how good we are at predicting the weather, there’s always a twist. This becomes important since no one wants to take a walking tour of a city in the rain or climb a mountain on an excessively humid day. Weather also affects clothing choice or lack thereof.
Now, just because travel isn’t as effortless as social media makes it out to be doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done. Those experiences and unexpected mishaps really add to our life stories, and in turn, shape human thoughts. If nothing else, there’s a lot to be learned about flexibility.
While it may never live up to the perfect, rose-tinted pictures gracing the feeds, travel is its own reward. It expands the mind and truly is one of the only things that humans can spend money on that leaves us richer.
