One of the common misconceptions is that people who write blogs are these marvelously creative people who never run out of blog ideas. Therein lies one of the barriers to entry into a vast field.

Most bloggers are not mad, creative geniuses. They’re regular people who have chosen to follow that path. Even the most inventive bloggers hit writer’s block when trying to create new posts from time to time. The trick around this is usually preparation, preparation, preparation.

One of the easiest things to do is generate a list of potential topics or blog titles to refer to. This can be done in regular brainstorming sessions or through writing the ideas down as they occur. I usually employ the latter method simply because then I don’t forget the best ones.

Now, pulling back the curtain a bit, bloggers also tend to work ahead. Whether ahead means weeks ahead or months ahead depends on the person in question. Scheduling ahead allows for a little bit of breathing room in terms of content creation. After all, life and emergencies happen.

Scheduling ahead also provides room for planning. After all, humans want to get something out of what they do. Writing blogs ahead of time allows for social media campaigns, freebie creations, launches, and in general more publicity. A well-run blog is a business, and businesses must have growth to keep going.

Every single human has a different creative process. Some basic structures are universal though and employing those structures can launch an idea into real life. That’s not to say there aren’t other options of course!

Blogging doesn’t have to be a huge insurmountable challenge, it can be dissected like most other tasks. Taking it a blog at a time while planning ahead really changes the stress level. Also, it takes time to build a blog following and traffic, so patience rules.
